MeshCore, LoRa and LoRaWAN networks
Mika Software designs, supports and deploys MeshCore, LoRa and LoRaWAN networks: long-range, low-power radio that keeps people and sensors connected across kilometres, with no cell towers and no subscription.
What we design, support and deploy
MeshCore repeaters
MeshCore (opens in a new tab) is open-source firmware that turns LoRa radios into a mesh. Repeaters on high points relay messages across town or across the county.
Companion radios
A small radio paired with a phone over Bluetooth, for text messaging off the grid.
Room servers
Shared channels and bulletin boards that hold messages for people who were out of range.
LoRaWAN gateways and sensors
Battery-powered sensors that report over kilometres through LoRaWAN gateways: water levels, temperatures, occupancy and more.
Coverage planning
Where the repeaters and gateways go, which antennas, and how they stay powered through the winter.
Ongoing support
Monitoring, updates and repairs, so the network keeps working long after it goes in.
How we deploy
01
Understand the need
Who, or what, needs to be connected, over what distance, and what happens today when the usual networks are down.02
Plan the coverage
Sites, heights, antennas and power, chosen from the terrain rather than guessed.03
Build and configure
We assemble the hardware and set up MeshCore, LoRa or LoRaWAN, configured for your network.04
Install, test and support
Every node is tested in place, your team gets written instructions, and we stay on to support the network.
Part of a Canadian stack
Mika Software is a founding partner of Maple Open Tech (opens in a new tab), whose Maple Wireless (opens in a new tab) work is about independent, resilient LoRa communication on infrastructure you own outright.
MeshCore is open source and LoRaWAN is an open standard. We support what we build, but nothing we install depends on us to keep running.
